Afaik, this has not yet been confirmed and is still under investigation so I am not sure it is wise to take his word for it. Which is the crux of the issue ultimately. Taking the word of a vigilante is not a good thing for society. He also killed him on another day after beating the shit out of him at the time. Or at least I assume he gave him a beating as it only mentions he escaped their initial fight. I don't think he should be punished harshly if it turns out what he says is true, but a society that wants to actually run properly cannot tolerate vigilantism as it is far too easily abused in an already corrupt justice system.
