There are tactful ways to say you're concerned about safety on public transportation instead of just being like "I don't wanna go near those gross poors". The reason people like that exist is due to a lot of the same kind of decision making that led to our poor city planning in the first place anyway. Hopefully you'd assume if we ever re-focus there, we get actual attempts to address income inequality too. Plus as adjl said if you have more people in general using transit you should feel safer To be fair, I'd rather he use the car as well, because I don't want to share public transportation with someone from Florida --- Take me for what I am -- who I was meant to be.
