I'll be the first to admit I have a tough time following the dueling amendment debate here because I'm not into crypto but my understanding is that getting this right is actually kinda important because at one point one of the amendments was written in a way that would actually favor the implementation method that is more energy-intensive (and thus environmentally harmful) over an alternate method that was less so.

I think that amendment was updated to fix that problem but yeah.

All this because the bipartisan crew has to come up with wacky ways to pay for their bill because god forbid we raise taxes on the rich, corporations, or even just enforce the actual tax code as it currently is better like the reconciliation package intends to do in order to pay for itself.
Yeah, I was reading up on it after I posted that and it sounds like the Warner amendment specifically penalizes proof of stake and not proof of work which is definitely a bad idea (I had just seen the original version that added reporting requirements for everybody involved).
