What are we talking about then? I think the swing voters can easily be brought about to the left. I think anyone who isn't a hard right voter can be salvaged, including moderates.

My argument is basically that there seems to be a very loud contingent of people, who share the "you are either with us or against us mentality" and basically don't want to salvage any republican voters. They just want to demonize all Trump voters as the enemy, which doesn't make any sense to me. Because if say 25% of the 74 million that voted for Trump are near the middle, why not just encourage them to jump over the line? Why not welcome them with open arms?

I mean this election was close, and really could have gone any which way. 25% of 74m equates to a potential 14.8 million voters that could possibly become blue. You nab a portion these voters, and when combined with the younger generation aging into becoming registered voters and you basically kill off the republican party. You prevent them from ever gaining power again.

But if you don't try to salvage these voters, and just continue to demonize them, then you push them further down the line to where they are no longer swing voters, and then they truly do become unsalvageable. Then you give the republicans the potential to regain power again.

Are you saying this topic is not refering to people who voted Trump, but actual republican politicians? If so, then fuck no, of course they are not salvageable. They are the reason why the denocractic party should continue to try and sway all of the swing voters, and moderates over to the left. So as to prevent those people from ever regaining power again.

@Tyranthraxus I didn't read this entire topic start to finish, but I do think that the general vibe is that it's talking about people who voted republican, not the actual politicians themselves.
