For some context: late last month there was a super-spreader anti-vax protest in Sydney, which is where that viral image of a bogan punching a police horse came from. Sydneysiders have been flauting the lockdown laws for this entire outbreak - a pair of furniture movers took COVID all the way to Orange, which is in NSW's Central West - a good couple of hours from Sydney. Other Sydneysiders have fled the city and come out to the country to escape the pressures of lockdown life, putting small towns at risk of catching the Delta variant when the first and second waves of COVID never got out that far.

And this is after our premier bitched out on full lockdowns multiple times leading up to this event, deflecting to Victoria whose fast action in the face of immediate crisis has helped them weather multiple outbreaks with minimal death tolls.

On one hand, I feel a need to defend my country from American ridicule, because your entire COVID response under Trump has made the prospect of travelling to America or interacting with an American as appealing as french-kissing a plague rat. On the other hand, ngl - the NSW state government continues to fail its people, having been the cause of COVID entering the country in the first place. The Liberal-National Party is a fucking mess, and the election has been postponed indefinitely because of this aggressive wave of COVID sweeping the eastern seaboard.
