When I think of fighting game stories I think of a bunch disparate non-sequiturs as every character gets their own thin plots will little cross-over continuity between them, and while they can certainly be fun and wacky, it's hardly good storytelling. MK9 really upped the ante with fantastic cinematic, production values and I quite like that it doesn't just go straight reboot and discards everything before it. It's a story that truly leans into MK's rich lore and embraces the wackiness that comes with it while still taking it seriously. --- I've decided to put my fears behind me.
