I would stay away from applications that force you to meet strangers such as tinder, bumble, etc. But using social media to connect with familiar faces is a great weapon. I successfully achieved a date 2 years ago by friend requesting a woman that went to my university. We never met because we never had a class together. She is still my girlfriend today ^_^ So just make sure there is familiarity, you went to school together or have mutual friends, etc. Push your luck you'd be surprised.
