Palom/Porom being stuck in petrification and unrestorable because they cast it on themselves, then suddenly being restored by the Elder at the end of the game is absolutely and inarguably a plot hole. So is Cid and Yang jumping in giant explosions and ending up being sick in bed.

The plot was not well written.

Those aint plot holes. That's dues ex machina shit which can be a valid complaint but it ain't a plot hole.

Those surviving explosions suddenly its apparent ffv characters are more resilient than we originally believed. The twins it simply was just soft that couldn't revive them all along.

Plot holes are when shit literally is contradicting an already established thing. Afaik. Deus ex machina afaik is when a story teller pulls some shit out of his ass to explain away something that shouldn't have been or extremely unlikely to be the case.

But yeah I just take cid and yang of being cases of they where much more resilient than we originally imagined. I mean we had no reason to believe cloud should have survived his early game fall at that point but he did and we all accepted it

It was a old school game I dont take shit like that seriously. I mean final fantasy 2 had the villain come back from death even more powerful before with little in game explanation. Everyone claims sabin can suplex a train when thats more a gameplay mechanics but fanboys take it as canon. Final fantasy is full of unrealistic things
