I take everything that uncle says with a pretty big grain of salt also. He said the name would have been "Earl of Skiens" or Skeins, or some other spelling. The name was changed like 5 times after the family moved to the US, at least 1 time to avoid to a get a revoked license back after a DUI. My grandfather said he remembers his grandfather driving him into town to do it. (hopefully not after some mountain moonshine) American history doesn't even really teach it's own history, much less Scotland.
