There is no disability or illness in the world that makes it so someone physically has to eat dinner at the same time every night, that's as ridiculous as saying you "need" to wear an orange shirt every day and getting upset when your company asks you to wear a uniform that's blue or something.

I'm not sure where you draw the line for "need" but meal timing regularity is part of treatment for some mental and physical conditions.

Severe GERD treatment requires timing meals to be a specific time after taking medication, and finishing long enough before reclining (going to bed) to ensure the stomach is empty, and this duration can be lengthened if also suffering from gastroparesis. Those recovering from eating disorders can benefit from meal timing regularity.
