D) Ask if the Queen can heal you

You clench your fist.

Do it, who gives a fuck about the people, says the voice in your head.

You shake your head. Youre better than that.

Alright, calm yourself, you say, mostly to yourself but also to the Queen. I need the Heart to help with a curse of mine. If you really do make miracles, then heal me.

The Queen retracts her wings and looks back at your humbled face. She lets go of her embrace to the Heart and approaches you. I normally dont reach my hand out for a monster like you. Step in the water.

You take off your boots and set foot in the pool of water, much too small for your large frame. Dont you know? Its monsters that need the most saving.

Smore tries to follow you into the water, but you raise your hand to signal her to stop.

The Queen kneels and puts her hands together, then starts chanting a spell. The ritual begins again, with the runes all around the room glowing. The Heart glows too, sending power to the pool of water. Zenith-class: Wyvern Tears--

The blue glows of the water immediately turn crimson-red.

She coughs up blood, interrupting the spell. Wh...what? What was that?! She looks at you with fear. Merlin...this curse is unbelievably vile. Who did this to you?!

You cross your arms. Let's just say...consequences of my own actions. Can you really handle this? I've yet to see any magic that cures a curse."

She stands up and wipes the blood off of her lips. "My predecessors have researched curses for centuries. Only recently has their torch been passed to me.

She raises her hand. Water vapors in the air clump together, then solidify into a staff of ice. Before that, I was powerless. I could not save a mere child from a simple curse. And here you stand, reminding me of that powerlessness.

Her wings spread out far and wide as she slams her staff to the ground, forming a large magic circle. You say that monsters need the most saving? Youre completely right, Merlin. But saving a monster requires monstrous power. She chants a spell, faster than she ever has. The circle fills up almost completely. And only now, do I get to find out if I have it.

You give a skeptical but optimistic grin. Interesting. Personally, I know someone whos been doing that shit for way longer. But sure, show me what you got.

The circle completes. The entire room glows blindingly bright, like youve stepped into the gates of heaven. The Heart starts to shake violently as it pumps an immense amount of energy into the Queens staff.

May the Ether bless your soul, Merlin. She points the staff at you. Named-spell: Watermoses Wyvern Tears!

A beam of light shoots out, striking you and engulfing your entire body in it. Immediately, you feel pain all around you, like youre being constantly struck by lightning. You shrivel up and scream.

She grits her teeth. I swear Merlin, this is not an offensive spell. Your curse is just far too vile!

The glowing white beam slowly starts to get dyed crimson-red.

The pain you feel surges back to the Queen, forcing her to kneel. However, she keeps the spell going despite the immense torture. Its not working...perhaps Im...simply powerless--

Smore walks up to the Queen and stands next to her. Sir Merlin. I was unsure whether I should take action here. But earlier, you said heal me. Ill take that as a command. She spreads out her wings and arms, gathering mana to her.

The Queen looks at her with bewilderment. Another half-dragon?

Miss Watermoses. I hope you do not mind, but Ive already memorized this spell of yours. Within seconds, she reconstructs the incredibly complex magic circle on the palm of her hands. Your spell is interesting. You aim to dispel a curse using brute force?

She points her hands at you and shoots out a more focused beam of light unto where your heart is.

The pain skyrockets, leaving you writhing out of the pool. This pain also reflects back to both Smore and the Queen.

As you keep your eyes closed, fragments of memories resurface.



You were in a completely void of darkness.

A thousand voices whispered to you in unison. You wishhhh to defy the inevitability of time? they said, with the intonation of a snake. All cursessss are paid in blood, mortal. It will be impossible for you to find equivalent exchange for an agelessssss vessel right now.

You were unable to speak. You felt an ice-cold hand caress your cheek.

However, we are flexible. Your everlasting life will come with an everlassssting debt. You are not allowed to...nullify either of these things yourself.

Another ice-cold hand caressed you, touching both of your cheeks. And you WILL pay it regularly. Well make ssssssure of that.



The white light becomes completely dyed crimson-red. The spell goes haywire.

The castle explodes. The beams they shot out bounce away from you and back towards the casters.

Smore tackles the Queen out of the way.

The red beam drills straight through the Heart and through the wall

...And further and further, right into the mountains.

The ground shakes violently, toppling over the remains of the altar and spilling the pool.

The three of you steady yourselves while panting heavily.

You raise your arm to keep your hat on, but realize something. You wave your arm around. I dont know what the hell happened, but at least you healed my arm. Ill give ya points for that.

The Queen coughs up more blood from straining herself too much. She drops to all fours, with one hand covering her mouth.

Smore ignores her and gets up. Sir Merlin. I sense a colossal disturbance back at the mountain.

You walk up to the giant hole in the wall and look at this disturbance.

What you see is very cloudy. Concerningly so.

You scratch your beard. Smore, thats an avalanche, isnt it?

She nods. The mountain was weakened by your forceful use of Chi. That spell was, as mother would put it, the last nail in the coffin. Mother did also say its incredibly foolish to build a city at the foot of a mountain.

You also nod. Hm. Shit.
