The house looks amazing. I can see how you might rent for the week with a group. 14k is still steep, yes, but it's a lot less intimidating when it's split 5 ways. My sister pays something in that range each year for her vacation at the shore. Some people really do have more money than they know what to do with, though, so I don't doubt there are single rentors.

What does not look amazing is the surrounding neighborhood. That aerial shot looks like they just plunked a luxury mansion down in the middle of scrub forest. I'm going to assume that what I'm actually seeing is light forestation near the beach and that the path at the bottom is connecting to a boardwalk, because if this is a tourist town then this all makes a lot more sense.
