Some podcast I was listening to had the girls listing their precautions and it was ridiculous. Its definitely a thing. I worked security before and one of our main protocols was to walk all the female staff to their cars at night in case of any shenanigans. Female security officers weren't allowed to work graveyard shifts either not even in enclosed office buildings (because you still had to go outside sometimes at weird hours). Even in broad daylight women always have to be wary and watch themselves if they alone. Not that men don't have to worry about being harassed or jacked up, but obviously it's not a relentless thought at the back of our minds.
