The showrunners didn't lose shit. The franchise is built on the books, not the show. The show could only ever go so far because the guy controlling the franchise wasn't the showrunner, they were just working with the guy controlling the franchise. And because they chose to have it on *HBO*, there was never going to be the same opportunity you'd have from films and GRRM didn't want it to be a film.

...literally made Liam Neeson into a major action star, not that a series needs to give people careers afterward, particularly when most of them can coast by on the success from the films (or, in other cases, that massive success meant they didn't have much in the way of another career). His career before that was mostly just artsy, Oscar-bait. After that he started doing blockbuster after blockbuster.

That said, despite being typecast as Luke, Mark Hamill hit it big as the Joker's VA so he has two iconic roles to his name.

It also probably helped Natalie Portman's career, although nowhere near as directly as it helped Liam Neeson. Literally the only reason anybody in this topic knows who Liam Neeson is thanks to SW giving his career a shot in the arm and propelling him to become a household name.

This fucking guy thinks Liam Neeson movies making $200k on a $6m budget is "massively successful." ROFLMAO!!! Other than Schlinder's List, did Liam Neeson have much real success before TPM? Liam Neeson has two parts to his career, his middling years before SW and the breakout star he became after SW where he headlined big money blockbusters.
