I have questions about the continuity. The Jedi Order existed like 20 years before this but they dont know who the Jedi or Yoda are or what The Force is? Also Luke is famous isnt he? And Vader?

Jedi were still fairly rare even before the purge. Remember in many jedi missions in shows before that, people still had never seen a jedi until the show/movie. Just because Yoda is well known to us (from movies) doesn't make him well known to everyone in the universe. Even Vader (who was arguably the most known/feared jedi/sith) wasn't known most places he went (if you read the comics at least).

Also 20 years is ALONG time, especially for younger characters who were kids etc, they might hear legends etc, but even that may have faded eventually since jedi were just rumors initially to many planets.

Finally if they were not part of the rebellion etc, then Luke etc wouldn't be famous. A few of the chars would know about him though, but again, his name/appearance especially, wouldn't be common knownledge.
