Dog bite related fatalities have always been proportionate to the number of dogs and humans. It is an exceedingly rare event given the sheer number of dogs that are out there in households and in general.

Also, dog attack related incidents related to "Pit Bulls" encompasses multiple breeds and bull breed mixes lumped together under the umbrella term Pit Bull. Everybody knows what a Rottweiler looks like, but if anything sorta resembles what people think a Pit Bull looks like then that's what they label it as. It's like saying that the German Shepard, Dutch Shepard and Belgian Malinois are all the same thing because they are all shepards, when they all look different from each other and have different level of drive. There is only one real Pit Bull, that's the American Pit Bull Terrrier.
