I think it's entirely plausible that the dude is just some conservative who is willing to look past a candidate's shortcomings if they support the same policies Cawthon does. His being a Christian is no indictment, either. Plenty of Christians are ardent supporters of LGBTQ causes and struggle to define their faith in light of their church's stance on LGBTQ issues.
