There is one correct, factual , scientific explanation for anything and any other conclusion is wrong. Do we have some hard science on ghosts? Did you have multiple previous encounters with ghosts that formed a general template of how these things operate? You can't just go "I have no idea how to explain something rationally, so I'll just pick whatever and blame that." That's not how the world works. Why would you want it to be ghosts?
