I don't feel like watching the video, but I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't some clear parallels given the expansion of the surveillance state under both GWB and Obama (whose assaults on American civil liberties were eerily similar). I think the watershed moment is when the heroic Edward Snowden blew the whistle on PRISM and Obama was like, "Yeah, we're spying on you, so what?" and the media was either too scared or too complicit to really challenge it. (It's hard to know which, given that Obama had previously raided news offices, tapped journalists' phones, and did things that would make Nixon blush.)
