It's interesting the example they use. If a woman who is in poverty, lives far away from basic resources like running water, is uneducated about sex, had 6 kids already some of which may have been taken away to put in foster care, has drug issues and addictions, and shows no signs of getting better, then is it ethically correct for a doctor to sterilize the woman against her will? I've seen people support that argument. It's in the same ballpark (but not the same) as legislating abortions to be outlawed. I don't like it. There are a whole host of underlying issues that leads to all those problems that are often ignored.

I'm native myself. My wife works with Native populations that aren't doing well socially. She helps run programs that gets parents their children back from foster care. Many poor indigenous people lose their kids to the foster system and they get little help to get them back. It's appalling that more help isn't given.
