Broadcast television in general also feels less relevant than ever. Because it is. Literally live sports is the only thing keeping the model alive and its even beginning to show weakness The real problem is WWE actually should have seen a boon with their whole "universe" when shared big developed universes were a thing. But that would require character development, constant progression of plot, remembering that something happened a month ago and not running the same thing over and over again.
