Honestly, LaBeef is one of the few things in the movie that isn't terrible. I'd rather have more of him and less of everything else than the reverse. For one thing, he's the only one who seems to actually give enough of a shit about the film to attempt acting rather than just half-assing his lines. And his character - while we can argue about whether or not it should exist in the first place - fits the setting a lot better than a lot of the rest of the muddled narrative. He's also one of the few characters who seems to remain consistent to his own characterization and who has something resembling an arc that isn't mostly shit. To some degree he's filling the "comic relief" role of Marian/Willie/Indy's dad filled in the previous movies, combined with having to take up a lot of the slack of the action because Harrison Ford is a walking mummy now. That can be jarring, and he's certainly not helped by how dumbed down the entire film feels, but very little of what's wrong with the film is HIS fault. --- "Wall of Text'D!" --- oldskoolplayr76 "POwned again." --- blight family ...
