The most obvious is "back in my day, there was no internet"

Unless you're over the age of 50, that's not actually true. And you'd probably have to be at least 60 to consider an Internet-less age "back in your day".

Back in your day there was probably no World Wide Web (which didn't exist until 1991), but that's slightly different.

another 1980s kid

The Internet existed in the 1980s. Granted, most people (especially kids) didn't know about it (though it was more common on college/university campuses), but it was there. It didn't really have the massive boom of public awareness/use until the creation of the World Wide Web and the rise of services like Prodigy, CompuServe, and AOL in the mid-90s, but the infrastructure itself was there and plenty of people were using it (via things like BBSes and Usenet) for years.

Having lived through it, I'd argue that the "Internet Age" didn't really kick off hard until around 2000 or so (give or take a year). But anyone growing up in the wake of that (say, anyone who's 25 or younger today) really won't have any idea what it was like growing up in a world where the Internet wasn't a universal presence.
