He didn't drive like a reckless moron because he wasn't driving at all, according to a later portion of Ducky's story:

The way Duckbear framed it makes it unclear. Earlier in the post he said:

Boersma said he was in the car with his infant child and girlfriend as the gf was screaming "We have a baby in the car"

Boersma then armed himself with a gun and got out and SHOT him 3 times at Rosseti's back and then DRIVING AWAY.

But after Justin drove away when he shot Rosseti dead, he hit another car along the way and later said he fled so he could call his LAWYER before surrending.

I interpreted it as at the time of the shooting, it was only the murderer, his GF, and their kid in the car. Later on when the car was tracked down for the arrest, the other dude was driving it.
Hard to tell from Ducky's post if the driver was the same in each instance or not. Seemed like the friend wasn't there for the crime and thus not the driver.
