I don't understand the point of this, like people are saying. Are they really so bored in school they can't just take a normal path? Is it worth it to miss out on all of the social development? Even if they go on to get a PhD maybe they're like 16-20 years old, that's so young to be jumping into the workforce.
These kinds of kids are typically able to advance so fast that they'd be doing essentially nothing in school each day. There is an argument from a social development standpoint, but going to school while being extremely bored at rehashing stuff you could do blindfolded also isn't really healthy either.
