He wasn't, in fact he was more of an ass in the earlier stuff IIRC. Well not exactly, but Spider Man 100% learns he needs to actually be a good person to be a superhero.

I think Garfield is underrated as Spider Man. The first one was great, and while Garfield could be "too cool" he still rocked the whole awkward outcast thing Peter Parker has.

Though I think Tom Holland has all the potential of being the best Peter Parker and Spider Man if only he was given an actual Spider Man story. Holland's Parker is way too cool and way too MCU focused. Peter Parker should never have the whole "king of the Nerds" thing he has in the MCU.
