If the woman really wasn't shoplifting she wouldn't have anything to hide and wouldn't resist. On the other hand, a security guard's job is to call police and not to confront beyond a simple "Are you gonna pay for that". This incident didn't have to blow up as much as it did had the security guard just done that.
