This whole situation could have been avoided if Biden didn't pledge to reduce emissions by an impossible amount without proposing an actual plan to do so. In a complete vacuum people can only speculate and the result is said study, that highlights one of the few ways to actually reach that 2030 target is by drastically reducing red meat consumption, is left to get passed around as "fact".

Obviously these people are fear mongering, but it only works in part because if someone actually tries to look up WHAT Biden's plan actually is they'll find... nothing. It's not that "leaders" are falling for bullshit. It's that they're openly exploiting an information gap to rally conservative voters against democrats.

I don't support what they're doing at all, but I also don't support making bullshit impossible promises on the global stage without a concrete plan to back it up.
