Yeah, the base will hold it back for as long as it's necessary, but once we're mounting, moving, and storing our TVs with all the simplicity as with hanging pictures and posters, what we have now likely won't last past the point where the price normalizes. The reduction in materials may even result in a lower standard price for size, though a big chunk of any savings will likely have to go toward separate audio hardware.
