Idk much about vaccines but iirc past vaccines took forever to make because there were barely any people participating in the trials, with people not participating it took alot longer for scientists to gather data. And it took even longer if the virus wasn't all that contagious. For Covid 19 vaccines, there was a lot of interest from people to join their trials and the virus is extremely contagious so it made it super easy for scientists to gather data.

Also like I said, idk much about vaccines but I read that stuff like HIV is extremely volatile, like it changes alot quicker than Covid19 or something like that. Makes it hard for people to even develop one for hiv. But I could be wrong on that one, hopefully someone with more knowledge can educate us on this tbh
