Topic	Anyone ever file a trademark before? How do you do it?

But I remember about a year into my work, I realized a trademark had been filed for a game series with the same name I had thought of, after I already decided on it. Luckily it was early on, so I didn't have to change much. But I want to avoid that happening again, and frequently check the US Trademark database to make sure it hasn't lol. Do I need to be an organization? Or can individuals do it?
