Yeah, you don't need to necessarily spend anything right now. But there are a ton of lawyers that pile on divorce/custody/whatever cases. They'll happily talk to you in the event you are a future client. You just need to have one prepared to be hired in the event things do get ugly. If things become amicable and you have a reasonable custody/child support/whatever arrangement, great.
