Revisiting this, from my Steam collection, the answer is either one of the Fallouts if you want to be cynically jaded toward Fallout, or maybe Divinity: Original Sin 1. (2 is good. 1 has all kinds of things wrong with it, but I was determined to slog ahead and try to beat it...I restarted several times and never did.) --- Only the exceptions can be exceptional. ...
