I think she was hungover I used to get cluster headaches, they'd come up usually during the change of the seasons. When I was in college I had to excuse myself from class sometimes to go to the library because it was quiet and put my head down until the headaches passed. She may have very well been hungover but I do have a lot of sympathy for people who get migraines/clusters and sounds like your teacher may have had them.
