Something could have happened in a previous relationship she doesn't wanna talk about, she could be wanting to try a different road in a relationship this time, there could be many reasons. This is why I suggested it best if he talks to her about it. Maybe she just doesn't want to like she says, but he'll never know for sure unless they have that conversation.
