The number of people familiar with pokemon is way too big compared to how small a number of pokemon there actually are, and people can get attached for so many reasons. Much as it baffles me that someone could love, say, Swadloon, I'm sure they're out there. Middle stages will be the *least* popular, sure, but there'll be at least one person out there for each of them. Several people, actually.
