I was let go from my job last month and I've been applying for jobs and had several interviews.

One I actually am getting into the process of getting an offer and it's pretty decent and not a contract position.

But I lied to them and said I was still working at my previous job. I was making a lot of errors partily because my dad's terminal illness, and taking care of him really affected me. I feel so awful and don't know what to do . I could get in this job, but they could call my previous job after and just fire me.

I do have an interview for another job next week and they sent an email form asking for my work history. I just can't do it anymore. i just want to tell the recruiter to cancel the interview

what would you guys do in my position? Moving forward I will tell the truth. I did tell one recruiter the truth early on, but while he was sympathetic and tried to get me in those positions, those positions were filled after, and I'm assuming they didn't want to take me.

There is something good in all seeming failures. You are not to see that now. Time will reveal it. Be patient.
