It seems like in the past Republicans did this via the Majority Leader and Secretary of the Senate. But this is splitting hairs - Democrats have avenues to fight it, Biden and Harris have avenues to pressure the party to do so.Yeah. There's basically two avenues that could be explored if they wanted to keep up the minimum wage fight on this COVID relief bill. They can have Harris overrule the parliamentarian. I don't think it's been done in close to 50 years but she absolutely has the authority. Or Schumer could fire the parliamentarian and hire a new one. Ironically, the precedent on this is both more recent and fitting. As I've alluded to before, the GOP fired the parliamentarian in 2001 when they disliked the rulings in the last 50-50 Senate. That said, either option is tantamount to repealing the filibuster so really they should just do that instead. Though given Manchin and Sinema they'd need to attach it to something the two of them want, so if not this then maybe infrastructure or something since Manchin at least has made it very clear he wouldn't pass a standalone $15 minimum wage bill. --- xp1337: Don't you wish there was a spell-checker that told you when you a word out? ...
