Seems like she wants to somehow get power on the same level as Wanda's but Wanda doesn't even seem to understand her powers fully. It seems Wanda's powers are that powerful because the mind stone literally amplified her innate abilities, which as we saw, were already powers Wanda never fully grasped when she was young. She stopped that bomb from blowing up for 2 days and never even realised it. When she was grieving it may have subconsciously unleashed that power to protect herself.
