Exactly why we suck at it. We haven't done it all our lives cause we dont live in that kind of environment. Texas doesnt have a bunch of snow plows at the ready cause it would be pointless to have them since we dont get snow except on super rare occasions. No one buys snow shovels becaus ewe dont get snow.

This is dangerous and not being over dramatic because we dknt have the experience of snow and ice. So obviously it is gonna be more dangerous for us.

Dude, just drive slow. Brake early and brake often. It isn't that complicated to not drive stupid. If you've driven in very heavy rain then that's a decent starting point for understanding how the roads will feel. I mean, obviously the roads will be worse than during a thunderstorm, but it's something I'm sure you can relate to.

I mean, yeah you can get really good at driving in the snow. Like doing donuts in a huge snow covered parking lot is a ton of fun. I used to pull my e brake going around turns when the roads were empty at night. Making your car fishtail can be pretty fun too.

The point is that driving safe should just be common sense. Start slow and increase speed until you no longer feel in control. It can be more complicated than that, but it really doesn't need to be.
