You are pretty much going to get wet anywhere you live except Southern California or the Southwest in Arizona/New Mexico. California, while big on tech, has been doing its best the last few years to compete with Florida to be the most batshit insane state in the country, and neither Arizona or New Mexico are big tech centers. What type of IT do you do? That will depend on where the best place for you is. Medical for example there is no better place in the world then Boston.
