It was a "meme stock" that people were trying to hype up like GME, except the short positions were significantly lower so it couldn't build up the same momentum that GME did (there was no hole to force the hedge funds into). But, AMC did raise 300 million from selling stocks earlier this week (missed the $20 peak, they could have made over a billion) so they're in a pretty good financial spot and in the long-term they could make some sort of a recovery after the pandemic ends. Wasn't really doing that hot before the pandemic but it's still a potentially strong investment for the longer term.
