I'm no RPG expert, so I'm sure there are exceptions, but the problem is that to get to the genuinely "strategic" parts you have to go through hundreds of tedious battles where you one or two shot the enemy. Action games have this too but the difference that's nice is you can do it in seconds or less, instead of having to wait for the game to enter the battle screen, have menus pop up, do the actual battle, then a victory/results screen
