I'm willing to try new things, but only on my own time, on my own whim, usually after really looking into all of the ingredients and preparation of the thing I'm eating, and generally making sure there's nothing in it that I'm either allergic to or that I hate, or that I just absolutely refuse to eat for whatever reason. If someone's just trying to push something on me, I have no qualms saying no. If I had a friend try to trick me into trying something by lying about what it was, I'd probably stop being their friend shortly thereafter regardless of whether or not I like the food.
