What Elon Musk doesn't realize in his quest to colonize and terraform Mars, is that while building colonies and domed cities might be a viable way to colonize the planet, he's not gonna get past that since terraforming Mars is physically impossible due to the lack of Carbon Dioxide, and more importantly the lack of a good magnetosphere, which allows the planet to be pounded by solar radiation and storms that constantly hits the surface. Which, even now, is being stripped away by the suns solar storms.

I understand putting bases and and small cities on Mars so humanity can have other places to launch rockets and such, but economically, Mars isn't gonna offer much more that. Mars wont be a earth-like prosperous world like we see in science fiction. Its simply flat out physically impossible.

It's science fiction. There's no actual proof that it is physically impossible since we don't know how technology will be in the far future.
