The original story, a serial entitled The Curse of Capistrano, had its name changed to "The Mark of Zorro" when the story was compiled for novelization in 1924, because the 1920 movie adaptation of the story, which had that name and was released shortly after the novel, was such a huge smash that marketing it as "Zorro" just seemed like the better idea. --- sent from microsoft waffle iron. help let me out ...
