Topic	Is the era of used video game collecting/trading over?

Its almost a predictable trend at this point: wait about 20 years and the prices of this retro stuff starts going up through the roof as the 20 somethings that grew up with this stuff now have money and pay out the wazoo for it. It is dumb to me for the reasons that you mentioned, but that is nostalgia for you.
