The vat of acid episode was pretty good, but it felt kinda wanky in the way that they literally titled it "the vat of acid episode". Like, it was an intentional attempt to recreate an episode on the level of the Pickle Rick episode, and they were so confident in it they were like "haha we'll make a title card so people will call it the vat of acid episode haha".

I didn't mind it, it was better than pretty much everything that happened in season 3, but the end of the episode felt fart-huffingly smug and it just rubbed me the wrong way overall with its presentation. It's not that I dislike it, more that its reputation feels forced and I don't think it's any better than the other episodes of season 4 that I liked.

I liked the dragon episode so much because I was expecting it to be a piece of shit episode, like who the fuck likes pointless medieval throwback plots about dragons and sorcerers and shit? And everything from Rick soulbonding with the dragon onwards was a goofy, disturbing surprise that caught me off-guard. You can talk about characterisation and subversion all you want, I just think hypersexual orgy dragons are funnier.
