If you think the writing style didn't change after a certain point from the way the earliest seasons are, I don't know what to tell you dude. I'm sure there's a couple decent episodes in the later batch but I have no motivation to dumpster dive looking for them when there's a zillion other television options in the present day.

It's ironically the same thing that happened with The Simpsons, more or less, and you can't argue that had to do with its popularity because the seasons everybody loves are from when it was most popular.

The style absolutely changed but the thing is I think it changed for the better significantly.

Like, look at Quagmire from the first episode. He's completely unrecognizable from the character he is now. I'd even say it was likely that when that episode was made, McFarlane wasn't anticipating him being a recurring character. So they gave him a character with their own flanderized gimmick and then he could be a reusable vector for those jokes.

And some of the original gimmicks got played out fast and aren't brought up much anymore like stewie trying to kill Lois. Which is another change for the better IMO.

Overall the show has improved I feel.
