Gorr's race of people were all basically dying off but all prayed to the gods for help, for crops, food, rain, etc. Gorr said "They aren't going to save us. Gods suck." For his blasphemy, they kicked him out and then he made a pledge to kill all the gods since they aren't worth the worship.
So he finds a god killing weapon and starts killing gods. And then he proceeds to create a God Bomb to erase all gods from existence, so he can start the world over where he could be the one true god and do it "right".
He's twisted, deadly, deranged, and really, really evil and he's an awesome choice. Christian Bale will have the opportunity for some seriously intense scenes, I'm sure. If there's anyone who can get people to buy into this character, it's him without a doubt.
Also worth noting that it takes three Thors to fight him.
Past teenage Thor before Mjolnir, modern Thor, and future Old King Thor.
And his series culminates in modern Thor dual wielding Mjolnirs at the heart of the Godbomb meant to erase all gods from existence in all time periods and dimensions, tanking it and preventing it from doing that.
The art is incredible and the whole concept is metal as fuck.
